ALSO: Notorious developer John Longo responds to Dec. column...using a phony name! So, in addition to reneging on a pledge to the Town of Georgetown, the guy is also a coward! Guess the Planning Board has their answer to what kind of "man" he truly is! A true hoot to read. Yes, fact is stranger than fiction!!!
Want to join the "Georgetown Whine Line?" or the "Political talk line?" or the "Computer Repair line?" or the "Flowers and Veggies line?" Well, send us your request. The list, originally started and owned by Rich Coco is still runs threads of Georgetown interest, and have spawned many would-be other google groups in town (liz). FriendsofLonnie_ @gogglegroups.com originally started out as a collection of supporters of Lonnie Brennan's Selectman election campaign. It has evolved [devolved] into a general free-for-all about all things Georgetown, and "list" contains many non-friends. It's quite the howl, and it's quite a community of sharing (and yes, opinion and gossip). Venture forth if you are interested or brave. click here to send us an e-mail to get on the list

Supt. Carol Jacobs - LIVE CALL-IN SHOW
Supt. Jacobs will review the proposed school budget for next year.
Given the almost quarter-million required just to fund the teachers raises for next year (thank your local school committee), it should be most interesting trying to balance the budget without raising taxes in the future...
Listen, review, make up your list of questions, and give the show a call.

7:00 P.M. SELECTMEN, FINANCE COMMITTEE, SCHOOL COMMITTEE
School Committee will be coming forth.
This is the BUDGET discussion.
School Committee spent more money than they currently have.
They are awaiting Obama dollars which were promised but have not come forth.
They expect to get it. It should be coming in. They need >$400K to balance this year's budget. They'll need the balance for next year's budget.
Based on the expectation of getting Obama dollars, they hired at least one person, expanded at least one programs, invested in the kids and the future, and added more than $222,000 to the base salaries of teachers this year (and at least that amount every year moving forward....based on the new contract). But now they're short.
This is the event folks.
Should be interesting.
